Catching up with alumni in Boston, Paris and London
With the easing of travel restrictions, we were delighted to travel to USA, France and UK this year to catch up with MU alumni in person. And we have great plans to travel some more in 2023, so watch this space!
Boston
An early St Patrick’s Day gathering took place on 16th March in downtown Boston.
Joining MU VP External Affairs, Rebecca Doolin, were alumni and study abroad students for a sociable, networking event in City Bar at the Lennox Hotel.
Leo Nulty of Mondello Park in Naas and the Kildare Chamber of Commerce, alumnus David Clear and Kevin Longo, former MU study abroad student from Boston College
Paris
Professor Eeva Leinonen was delighted to attend her first official international engagement as President of Maynooth University in October, at an alumni event hosted at the beautiful venue of the Embassy of Ireland in Paris and kindly supported by H.E. Ambassador, Niall Burgess. Our Maynooth University French Chapter Alumni Ambassadors, Seán Ryan (BA, 1989) and Róisín Dockery (BA, 1987), who are doing sterling work to build connections across France, were also in attendance. Professor Leinonen met with our international community and French-based alumni, current and past Erasmus students and staff from the Centre Culturel Irlandais at a wonderful, social evening in the splendid setting of the Irish Embassy.
Maynooth University’s Lárionad na Gaeilge, which has been providing Irish language courses in the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris since 2005, also had students and staff representatives in attendance.
London
Hot on the heels of the event in Paris, we crossed the water and caught up with alumni at the historic venue of the Honourable Artillery Company, London. Guests enjoyed meeting the President, Chief of Staff and VP External Affairs. Alumni were also invited to share their experiences of Maynooth University and to join the conversations as part of the 2023- 2028 strategic plan development. Our alumni community engaged fully with this input session with the President and team taking away valuable recommendations.
Rebecca Doolin, Vice-President External Affairs, welcomes MU alumni in London
Alumni Caolan Leneghan (BA, 2018), Saoirse Browne (LLBLI, 2019) and Pati Paulo (BSc, 2019) discuss their experiences and time at Maynooth University
