Academic and English-Language Requirements for non-EU citizens

International applicants must have a recognised primary (undergraduate) degree which is considered equivalent to an Irish university primary degree. Some programmes may have additional requirements.

120 with no less than 110 in literacy, conversation and comprehension subscores and no less than 95 in production

6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each band

63 with no less than 59 for each item in the Communicative Skills section

iBT: 90 with no less than 21 in writing and at least 19 in every other section
Cambridge Proficiency Certificate
176+ on Cambridge English scale with no less than 169 in each skill and use of English. Proficiency Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2)

176+ on Cambridge English scale with no less than 169 in each skill and use of English Advanced Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2)

The Graduate Work Visa Scheme

After completing a degree programme at Maynooth University, international students can apply for the Graduate Work Visa Scheme.

This enables students to remain in Ireland for up to two years after they graduate to actively seek full-time employment. During this time, students may also apply for further permission to remain in the state under green card or work permit arrangements. More information here

Financial Aid

North American students (citizens or permanent residents) may apply for US aid to fund their studies at Maynooth University, including the US Federal Direct Loan Program, Sallie Mae private loans, and Veterans Affairs Benefits.
