The Fees & Grants Office

The Fees & Grants Office’s primary function is the setting and collection of all student fees due to the University. Our aim is to provide as much information and practical advice for undergraduate and postgraduate students pertaining to the SUSI, payment of fees, refunds, tax relief, stipends, research funding, etc. Please check the Fees & Grants Office Website on a regular basis for up-to-date information for each academic year.

Postgraduate Fees & Grants information. A non-refundable deposit is required when you accept your place on your programme.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND MANAGING YOUR FINANCES

Student Budgeting Advice Service

The Student Budgeting Advisor offers support and advice with managing your money during your postgraduate studies. The service provides a range of resources and information to help students with financial planning, budgeting, as well as an appointment service, where an advisor can discuss your situation with you and try to ensure that you are accessing all options to support you in having a positive college experience. The Student Budgeting Advisor can provide advice about accessing funding, SUSI grants and scholarships, as well as social welfare and other financial supports for students. SCHOLARSHIPS

Postgraduate Scholarships 

Maynooth University invests €1.4 million annually in postgraduate students at Masters and PhD level.

Maynooth University currently offers up to 18 new John & Pat Hume Doctoral Awards annually to support research students embarking on a research PhD programme. Established in honour of John Hume, an alumnus of Maynooth University, these awards recognise his contribution to Ireland.

The John & Pat Hume Doctoral Awards comprises a stipend of €22,000, plus €2,000 research expenses, plus full fees for each year of the 4-year award.

The scholarship programme is open to all EU and non-EU citizens across all disciplines aligned to our University strategic plan and research beacons.

Taught Masters Scholarships

Maynooth University offers €2,000 scholarships to full-time taught Masters students at Maynooth University. These Taught Masters Scholarships are open to all applicants, EU and non-EU, and are awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Application for these scholarships takes place via PAC, in conjunction with your application for your chosen masters programme. The minimum requirement for eligibility is a result of 2.1 Honours (or equivalent) in an honours undergraduate degree.

John & Pat Hume: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Doctoral Awards

In addition, as part of our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), Maynooth University funds 3 Hume EDI Doctoral awards annually in areas where there is significant under-representation, including women in STEM, and the Maynooth University Access Programme (MAP), target groups highlighted in our Strategic Plan 2023-2028. The University awards 2 Women in STEM Hume (WISH) Doctoral Fellow scholarships and 1 Maynooth University Access Programme (MAP) Hume Doctoral Scholarship.

The John & Pat Hume WISH and MAP doctoral scholarship awards comprise a stipend of €22,000, plus €2,000 research expenses, plus full fees for each year of the 4 year award.

Doctoral Scholarships at Maynooth University

The MU Doctoral (MUD) scholarship programme is funded by individual academic departments. These opportunities are advertised on the departmental website on a rolling call basis. Full-time research degree students commencing a new programme of study on a PhD or PhD-track programmes and who have a relevant first class or 2.1 honours in their primary degree, or have a relevant Masters degree, are eligible to apply.

The 30% Club

The 30% Club is a collaborative business-led effort to make real change in Ireland, aiming towards 30% female representation in senior management.  Maynooth University is excited to be offering one full-fee scholarship to 30% Club members to undertake part-time study during the 2024-25 Academic Year.
